Welcome to the photographic record of my return to Burma

Photograph taken in October 1944 while on North West Frontier

I am Mr Hoyland "Bert" Barrack MBE

Past member of The !st Battallion Of The Lincolnshire Regiment

This site is designed to give visitors a taste of our trip to Burma in March 2005.

The trip had two objectives

1> Visit the two war cemeteries in Rangoon to pay my respects to comrades laid to rest there

2> To return to The Arakan region where I spent so much time fighting through 1943 and 1944

The overwhelming success of the trip was made possible by the organisation of Remembrance Travel,  especially Piers and Johnnie,

Funding from Heroes Return

and the goodwill and friendliness of every local person we met

This is very much a personal record of the trip and reflects the things that interested me, so to fellow travellers I apologise if you saw things differently or I have omitted the parts significant to you. The historical background information is not intended to be a serious historical record, but enough to explain the significance of the region.
